DIY: 24k Gold Accented Dipped Pencils
Gold Accented Dipped Pencils.
Accenting dipped pencils with 24 karat gold leafing sheets.
- Art brush
- Metal Leaf Sealer
- 24k gold sheets
This is a very simple and easy way to make your journaling pencils a bit more decorative and special by adding some metallic shimmer to them.
I’m starting out by using already dipped pencils.
Using an art brush, paint a thin coat of sealer over the part of the pencil that you would like to apply your metal leafing sheets to. I’ve gone ahead and applied mine all over the already painted part.
Wait a few minutes so that the sealer becomes a bit more tacky.
Using your tweezers, break up your metal sheet into pieces and apply them over the coat of sealer. You could also roll your pencil in the metal sheet if you’d like a different look, to cover a larger space or cover the entire pencil in metal leafing sheets. I would recommend working on top of wax paper for that. Definitely.
Once you’re done and you have given the pencil a few minutes to dry, go over the metal sheet accents with another thin coat of sealer. Again, I’ve gone ahead and applied the sealer all around the area that was already dipped in paint.
Let dry until the sealer is clear and no longer sticky.
And… If you’d rather not do it yourself, you’re able to purchase a similar set for yourself, made by yours truly, here: 24k Gold Dipped Pencils
