I Sell On Etsy – taralekatana by Tara Lekatana
I sell on Etsy – www.etsy.com/shop/taralekatana
Last spring, I had decorated EOS lip balms as jeweled Easter eggs to gift to friends. My husband thought that they were adorable and took some pictures so that he could list them on an Etsy account that he also created for me. Unfortunately, only my husband thought that they were likable enough to be sold since they never did sell. Disheartened, I never renewed the listings and never looked at my Etsy seller account again. Last fall, when our daughter wanted a Frozen themed birthday party, I bought everything that I could find at Party City and Amazon that had anything to do with the movie. But even after all of that, I still didn’t have center pieces for the tables. Since we were still moving into our new home, we had a lot of our winter decorations accessible and I decided to go through the boxes to see what I could find. On the morning of the party, I put silver and teal glittered snowflakes and sticks together to create center pieces. They were only used for a few hours so I felt that it was a waste to throw them out. I listed the snowflakes on my Etsy account out of curiosity just to see what would happen. To my surprise, those snowflakes sold! Due to part laziness and part doubt that I’d make another sale, I never removed the listing. Almost immediately after the first sale, I had received an email asking me if I could have the snowflakes created on white sticks, though if I could not, they would be purchased for a party anyway. I replied, “Sure I could!” and that was when I made a much more serious and detailed listing for “Set of Four – Glittering Snowflakes – Winter Wonderland – Frozen Theme” with color and finish options.
Last year was a really nice year for me starting out on Etsy. I’m also really glad to know that I’ve been able to help a bit in decorating various birthday parties, weddings and baby showers. This year, I’ll be listing other items that I like to make for my family and friends. I’ve taken out my shop on my website and I’ve replaced it with a page to my Etsy shop. I hope to be able to add more items regularly.
