DIY: Cork Board and Wall Planner
Project: Getting organized by sprucing up a cork board and wall decal dry-erase planner set to help get my act together.
- Four piece wall decal & cork board set (I used the Wall Pops Kolkata Organization Set Decals)
- Four 13×13 frames (ordered from DIY Picture Framing by Quadro Frames)
- Scissors
- Putty knife handle but HAMMER RECOMMENDED
- Bubble tool
I had a bit of time to myself today that I wanted to use to start getting my desk and the area around it organized. I was able to put up a dry-erase calendar & daily planner along with a cork board.I bought a cute set of dry-erase wall calendar and planner decals from Amazon. They have a bunch of different looks and options. I chose the medallion design in the set of four which includes a monthly calendar, weekly planner, note board and a cork board. This set also comes with six push pins, stick on gems, and a dry erase pen in black.
I was a bit uncomfortable with the idea of sticking the decals onto my wall even though the product reassured me, as did the reviews, that it was perfectly okay to do. I was also worried that all of my moving and rearranging of them to try and get everything straight would cause some wear and tear to show up quickly on the decals. Wanting to avoid stains and smudges of old dry-erase marker on the decals, I decided on ordering a set of frames from www.DIYPictureFraming.us. I didn’t price check or compare. I was excited to have been able to find 13×13 frames with color options and this site was the first to pop up from my Google search. They have so many options! I bought four 13×13 silver frames each with the cardboard-like backing. I only ordered three glass front panels since I wouldn’t need one for the cork board. Yes, I did have to put the frames together.
I had to remove the gems and cut a few slivers off from the edges of the decals to get them to fit perfectly. Once I had everything in place, I stuck the gems onto the glass of the frames in the places that they were originally put on.
I couldn’t find a single hammer so I used a dirty putty knife/spatula handle and bubble to try my best to get the cork board and wall planner aligned straight and up on the wall.Voila! Plan away!
