On Friday we had found out that we had to do a sudden and very unplanned kitchen/dining renovation. Water had been leaking underneath the floors causing the planks to swell and pop up in weird ways through out the entire room. The cause of this was from a water tube that connects to some part of the air conditioning unit located in our laundry room. It took about two minutes to change out the broken tube but the damage had already been done. We called our home insurance company. They work quickly! By the end of the day, our entire floor had been pulled up and taken out. There are loud dehumidifiers in there now that are drying out the water and draining it into the sink. The upside to all of this, aside from getting brand new dream floors, is also having a reason to BBQ everyday this long weekend because being in and using the kitchen with the way that it looks and sounds now is not going to happen!
Remember when I had mentioned that we were looking for window treatments and we ended up settling for blinds instead of plantation shutters because of the scheduling problem?! Well, since my husband and daughter both wanted the greyish ‘aged white’ look and color that matches the paint over my choice of the cherry finish to match the floors at the time, our new kitchen floor will be in grey oak. I am so excited to see how it all comes together. If I fall completely in love with this look then we will plan to redo the entire house to match. This is turning into a little more than adding some grey bedding and grey decorative pillows to keep up a grey interior theme. I’m feeling like a little lucky duck today!
