Kitchen Table Passport – March 2015
Look what has arrived at my door step! Kitchen Table Passport!
Are you ready? I’m ready!
Kitchen Table Passport is one of the subscription boxes that I have been looking most forward to unboxing. I really love the idea of enjoying a fun family and friend night! This subscription box is a chance to explore another country and culture as well as plan an activity night after cooking and having a themed dinner together. There were actually a lot of items and activities inside of this tiny box that it took me quite a few days to go through all of it (I still haven’t thoroughly checked out the total experience, updates will come soon) and to finally sit down to write out this post.
“Explore the world from your kitchen table. We bring countries to visit you.” – KTP Night. This month’s discovery box theme is the country of Japan! The box is filled with so many vibrant colors, information and SOUVENIRS! I could smell the herbs and spices. There was also a hint of incense too!
There is a welcome and introduction card that includes information from Lisa and Murray, with their personal experience in Japan. I thought that was such a nice personal touch.
The back of the card includes detailed information on the included souvenirs as well as where to get a playlist to complete your themed discovery box dinner and activity night! Perfect!
What’s for dinner? Yakitori-Style Chicken Rice Bowl! There is a recipe card that includes a shopping list with substitutions if necessary. It also gives you options in traditional preparation and Tokyo street-style serving. All of the flavoring is included in the herbs and spices packet. Pretty much worry-free there!
The learning is hidden in the brightly colored fun cards! There are ten beautiful photograph cards each with questions, answers and other informative tid-bits. They are of really nice quality so I am saving them to reuse on another night or for a class project. Just kidding about the class project, maybe.
What are this month’s souvenirs? I received origami paper, bathing salts and incense. The souvenirs card comes with a scan code to help you get started in creating an origami paper swan. I haven’t used any of the items because I really liked how well they put this entire box together from start to finish and I’m trying hard to keep it that way for as long as I can! You really have everything that you and your family/friends would need to create the perfect night together. I will make a separate post if I ever change my mind about trying out the gifts.
